IKDRC-ITS has played a significant role in the development of advanced liver transplantation services in Gujarat. The first liver transplantation at the institute and the first liver transplantation in the state of Gujarat was successfully performed in May 2008 by Dr. Pranjal Modi. Since then, the liver transplantation programme has grown substantially, with more than 820 liver transplantations performed under his leadership to date, establishing extensive expertise in advanced liver transplantation and complex hepatobiliary surgery.
